Got Inflammation? Get Grounded
Even Paco the Dog Knows the Benefits of Grounding
We were made to be connected to the earth. We are electrical, a battery in a sense. Our bodies are positively charged and draw the negatively charged electrons from the earth when we come in contact with it through our bare feet and skin. It then uses these electrons to heal our mind, heart, tissues, and our entire body. Additionally, by connecting to the earth, our body can reset our circadian rhythm to the earth’s frequencies, enabling us to sleep better. This is grounding, also called Earthing.
It’s not some latest craze. It’s hard physics!
Before the advent of the wood and rubber-soled shoes, fancy beds, and clothes made from synthetic fabrics, humans could live grounded 24/7. Today, with all our modern conveniences, we are completely disconnected from the Earth. This has led to poor sleep, inflammation, and chronic mental and physical health issues.
But we can change this. By getting outside and returning to a grounded lifestyle, we can squelch the silent and chronic inflammation that is the root cause of disease. And what’s more beautiful . . . it’s free.
“We are electrical beings, living on an electrical planet, and our connection is vital for our health and wellbeing.”

What on Earth is Grounding?
Watch Down to Earth
If you have any reservations about the benefits of Human Grounding, watching the 15-minute film "Down to Earth" will provide a more profound understanding of its significance in your healing journey.
Reduced pain and inflammation: By grounding daily, many people have experienced significant pain relief from conditions such as arthritis, back pain, and headaches.
Improved sleep: Grounding helps you fall asleep more quickly, sleep soundly, and wake up feeling refreshed.
Increased energy levels: Grounding helps combat fatigue and boost energy levels throughout your day.
Enhanced immunity: By reducing inflammation and oxidative stress, grounding supports a healthy immune system.
Improved mood and mental health: Grounding helps to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, and promotes calmness and well-being.
Faster wound healing: Grounding can help speed up the healing of injuries and wounds.
Reduced muscle tension and soreness: Grounding helps to relax muscles and reduce soreness after exercise and exertion.
Improved cardiovascular health: Grounding helps regulate blood pressure and improve heart rate fluctuations.
The Benefits of Grounding

Ways to Ground in Nature
Every day we should try to ground as much as possible. To begin, it’s recommended to ground for at least 30 minutes a day. Start by putting your bare feet, hands, or body on the following surfaces:
Grass and other forms of living ground cover
Soil
Sand
Concrete that is unsealed or coated with a water-based sealant
Plants (rooted in the earth)
Living trees, when bark is wet (dry bark does not ground you)
Brick that is unsealed or coated with a water-based sealant
Rocks (that are touching the earth)
Gravel (that is touching the earth)
Oceans
Lakes
Rivers
Streams
Note: It’s important to remember that in order to ground properly, you must be hydrated. The electron flow from the Earth is an electrical charge, and that charge needs a hydrated body to flow freely.

What do I do when I can’t be out in Nature?
Indoor Grounding Products
Let’s face it, life is busy. Whether it be work or weather, it’s not always possible to get outside and get grounded. Thankfully, there are many high-quality indoor grounding products available on the market today, ranging from mats and patches that help you ground while at home or work, to pillowcases and sheets for grounding while you sleep. There are even shoes that allow you to ground when you can’t be barefoot.
Groundology
Groundology™ offers a full range of grounding products: grounding sheets, mats, bands, patches, footwear, and other accessories. I’ve been using their grounding sack for over six years and have found them durable.

What is Dirty Electricity?
When we talk about grounding, we’re talking about the gentle current that flows naturally from the earth to our bodies. It’s called DC current. When we ground indoors through the ground port in the electrical socket, not only is the grounding cord conducting the DC current our bodies love, but also the manmade AC current, which is not good for our bodies. Some people are especially sensitive to these currents. It’s called electrosensitivity.
Some contend it’s too dangerous to ground indoors. Others say it’s no problem.
The good news is we don’t have to worry about it anymore. Dr. Laura Koniver has designed an indoor grounding cord that filters dirty electricity, called the PureGround Grounding Cord. It’s an excellent product that I’ve been using to ground for some time.

Books about Grounding
In The Earth Prescription, holistic physician Laura Koniver, MD, offers the ideal antidote to the toxicity of a life isolated from nature—grounding, or directly touching the earth to heal your body and rejuvenate your sense of total well-being. This hands-on guide will help you deepen your innate bond with nature and feel more centered, focused, creative, and vibrantly alive on every level.
Earth Prescription by Dr. Laura Koniver
Earthing by Clinton Ober, Stephen T. Sinatra, M.D., & Martin Zucker
Earthing' introduces readers to the landmark discovery that living in contact with the Earth's natural surface charge - being grounded - naturally discharges and prevents chronic inflammation in the body. This effect has massive health implications because of the well-established link between chronic inflammation and all chronic diseases, including the diseases of aging and the aging process itself.

Medical Studies on Grounding
Although you don’t hear a lot of talk about grounding in mainstream medicine, there have been quite a few medical studies done on the effects of grounding on human health. Click below to access these studies.
